THE MEDINA NOT-SO-GRAND JURY

The grand jury is intended as a function to safeguard the rights of the individual from the over-reaching powers of the state.  Such is not the case in Medina County, where the grand jury has no independence and is controlled by Dino Holman, the county prosecutor, who is more appropriately characterized as the grand inquisitor of Medina County.

The grand jury is intended to be an autonomous body of citizens who come together to safeguard the integrity of the community.  They are free to initiate their own investigations and to call witnesses, if they so choose.

That's not the way it works in Medina County!

In Medina County, county prosecutor DINO HOLMAN controls the whole show!

As an example, one grand juror proposed to conduct an independent investigation.

HOLMAN was not going to have any of that in his county!  No, siree!

HOLMAN promptly called the grand juror into his office and summarily informed the grand juror that Holman was not going to have a runaway grand jury in HIS county!

Forget about independent fact-finding.  In Medina County, it's HOLMAN's way or the highway!
The only function of the grand jury in Medina County is to rubber-stamp indctments presented by HOLMAN, so that he can PUNISH those whom he indicts!

I believe that the Founding Fathers worried about such tactics as are employed by HOLMAN and his cronies?

MUCH MORE TO COME ....
